First Rehearsal! Our first "Disney's Peter Pan Jr." rehearsal was a success for both singers and dancers. Get ready for big fun in April!
Third grade actors used their last drama class before break to block out scenes from "Disney's Peter Pan Jr." After all of their hard work, they really earned their rest this winter break!
Second grade students modeled a closed posture during a lesson on how actors use body language to show their characters.
Students from Mrs. Neve's 4th grade class played improv games and practiced writing blog posts to describe their work. The "flying pigs" troupe wrote about playing an improv game called "Gibberish Dictionary": We were playing Gibberish Dictionary. One player needs to do a random sound and you need to accept what they say and build on it by translating it into English as a random sentence . Then you do a spontaneous sound and the next player makes a spontaneous sentence, and it keeps going in order.
Actors review their improv performance recordings and track their progress with using the three principles of improv.
Actors practice the third principle of improv ("Be Spontaneous!") through a game called Silly Questions.
Even Ms. Reeder joined in on the improv fun! To practice building on ideas, students played the game The Machine. The group members each added onto each others' ideas in a way that connected to create a baseball machine.
Actors practiced building on each other's ideas through a game called "The Machine". One actor began the game play as the first part of the machine, and other actors built off of that idea by adding other parts of the machine that connected. Students watched a video of other students playing the game to learn the details of the game play.
The first principle of improv is to accept each other's ideas (just say YES!). To truly accept someone else's idea, you not only listen and agree to their idea, but you also work to make their idea sound really great. 3rd grade students practiced this concept with a game called "Rumors".
