Second grade students practiced working together in their troupes (acting groups) through an activity called "Circle Mirror". With focus and teamwork, the goal was to look like a mirror image of each other.
This summer, Mrs. Anderson took a storytelling class at Northwestern University. She learned great new ways to bring story into our drama room, along with some amazing new warm-up games. Here's a class photo...can you spot Mrs. Anderson? (We are wearing compliments that our fellow classmates wrote on post-it notes about our storytelling performances.)
Second grade students are learning how to consider the real objects they would use to do an activity so they can imagine those objects are really there as they pantomime. Here, a student pantomimes applying make-up.
5th grade students are studying prop design and constructing giant candy mushrooms for "Wilky Wonka Jr." 3rd grade students are studying lighting design and discussing the use of gels on the stage lights in theatrical photos.
Check out the magic happening in the art room as we collaborate with Miss Beatrice to create props for "Willy Wonka Jr." (as detailed on Miss Beatrice's Art Blog):
First grade students are hard at work adding costumes (clothing, accessories, wigs, facial hair) and props to their Gingerbread Man puppets to give them personality. |
