Drama Units
Students’ work each year will revolve around five major themes/ units:
Exploring Dramatic Art Forms: Dance, Pantomime, Group Interpretation, Playwriting, Spoken Word Poetry
Students will explore different aspects of each area of study over their five years of drama at Middleton. My hope is to expose students to as many types of dramatic art as possible to help them find different ways to enjoy the arts.

Improv!
All grades will begin the year learning the basic principles of improvisation. This work helps to build a safe and supported community for the actors and gives them the foundation for great dramatic work.
Our focus over the unit will be:

- to learn each other's names and the class structure
- to practice teamwork in our troupes
- to accept fellow troupe members' ideas
- to build upon fellow troupe members' ideas
- to embrace spontaneity
- to practice building a story on stage using characters, setting, objectives, and conflict
- to record and revise improvised works (4th & 5th only)
